Meet Dr Nicholas Phillips

Dr Nicholas Phillips

Dr Nicholas Phillips is a specialist Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgeon dedicated to providing personalised, compassionate care to both adults and children on the Gold Coast.

With advanced training and subspeciality expertise in paediatric and adult nasal obstruction, snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) surgery, Dr Phillips takes pride in achieving meaningful improvements in his patients’ quality of life.

After completing his Fellowship in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr Phillips undertook further advanced training in snoring and sleep apnoea surgery under the mentorship of internationally renowned surgeon Professor Stuart MacKay. During this period, he received additional training in advanced sinus surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

Dr Phillips is actively engaged in ENT research and education. He holds a Master of Surgery from the University of Sydney, where he was awarded a High Distinction for his thesis on thyroid cancer, and he has been widely published in medical literature. He regularly speaks at national and international conferences on sleep apnoea, thyroid disease, and paediatric ENT care. As a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, he contributes extensively to medical education and mentorship and has received an Outstanding Teaching Award from the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Born and raised on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Dr Phillips earned his medical degree from the University of Queensland. Today, he holds public hospital appointments at Gold Coast University Hospital and Tweed Valley Hospital, where he contributes to multidisciplinary care, particularly in thyroid management.

Dr Phillips believes in clear communication and empowering his patients and their families through evidence-based information and compassionate care. His goal is always to ensure patients feel listened to, well-informed, and supported every step of the way.
